James Benjamin Hall
James B. Hall, 86, originally from Newton, Texas passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Royce Herman and Mildred Hall; identical twin brother, Royce Herman Hall Jr.; and sister, Mildred Ann Hall Holland and his mother-in-law Nannie Lou Booker Beasley.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Clera Beasley Hall; son, James Weldon Hall; daughter, Suzanne “Suzie” Hall Simpson (Nathan); grandchildren, Jocelyn Simpson Shifflett (Brad), Jordan Hall Dent (Eli), Connor Hall (Rachel), Curtis Simpson (Amelie), and Brianna Simpson; and great granddaughter, Jupiter Simpson. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Phil Holland; and his sister-in-law, Lillian Beasley Beahm (Michael); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and the United States Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey California. He retired as a decorated officer from the United States Navy. He and Clera spent the majority of his career on the East Coast before he was stationed and retired from the Navy in Virginia Beach. He began a second career in computer systems management. After 52 years in Virginia Beach they moved to Roanoke, Virginia to be near Suzie and family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. A Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from1:00-2:00pm. A reception will follow the ceremony at the home of Suzie and Nathan Simpson.
