Michael Tyree Tinsley

Late Saturday evening, July 9, 2022, God came into Bro. Michael Tyree Tinsley's home in Rocky Mount, Va. and whispered a gentle call to Michael saying "Come on home and rest from your labor." Michael then entered peacefully into eternal rest at the age of 62. Michael was born in Franklin County, Virginia on August 13, 1959. Mike was the son of the late Gilmore "Pete" Tinsley and Frances Alice Tyree Tinsley. Mike was educated in the Franklin County School System. He professed love in Christ and joined First Baptist Missionary Church in which he was a faithful member under the leadership of Rev. Christopher Coates. Mike was a very devoted daddy, grandfather, brother and uncle. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy L. Mackenhimer, Phyllis M. Mackenhimer and Mary L. Mackenhimer; two nephews, Tommy Tinsley Jr. and Jerry Mackenhimer; two nieces, Tara Tinsley and Trudy Gilbert. Those left to cherish his memories are two daughters, Gwendolyn Jamison and Gwendetta Jamison, both of Bassett, Virginia; nine grandchildren, Aaliyah, Bryanna, Anasia, Bruce, Derrasia, Cataesha, Sterling, Marlin and Derrickus; three great-grandchildren, Hayilaa, Marley and Sky of Bassett Virginia; five sisters, Nannie Zeigler, Betty Tinsley, Georgia (Elder Herbert) Prunty, Brenda Montgomery and Shelia Tinsley, all of Rocky Mount, Va.; four brothers, Joe Tinsley, Charles Tinsley (Wanda), Thomas Tinsley, all of Rocky Mount, Va. and Howard Tinsley; special friends, Richard Sr. and Debra Hopkins and Dan Joiner. Michael will be truly missed by all the many friends and family whose lives he touched. Special thanks to Bonnie Wade and our beloved sister Louise (RIP) for blessing our family. Funeral services will be conducted at First Baptist Church, 12 Noon Friday, July 15, 2022 with Rev. Christopher Coates officiating. Interment will follow at the Tinsley Family Cemetery. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family requests donations to be made to help with final expenses (P.O. Box 763, Rocky Mount, VA 24151).
