Albert Joseph Manoni

Albert Joseph Manoni, 89, of Salem, Virginia, but formerly of Syracuse, New York, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024. Born in Cohoes, New York on April 10, 1934, to the late Louis and Lena Manoni, he is also preceded in death by his, grandparents, Paul and Mary Castracane; brothers, Harry Manoni, Tito Manoni, and Art Manoni; as well as his sister, Mary Manoni.

Albert loved blue skies, sunshine and being outdoors camping, hiking, canoeing, and swimming. As a member of the YMCA, he could still be active, even if the weather kept him indoors. His hobbies were gardening and woodworking. Albert greatly enjoyed keeping his mind active and being a part of the Elderscholar program hosted by Roanoke College, and supported the arts, namely Opera Roanoke. Above all, he adored his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Virginia Mae Manoni; son, Gary David Manoni; daughter, Patricia Ann Manoni; grandchildren, Andrew David Manoni and Jessica Mary Rizzo; brothers, Louis Manoni and David Manoni, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will welcome friends for a time of visitation on Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home, Salem. A funeral mass will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Deacon John Beach officiating. Inurnment immediately following in Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem.
