Albert Lewis Shoemaker

Albert Lewis Shoemaker, 75, of Madison Heights, went to be with the lord on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at UVA Hospital. Albert was born on June 18, 1949 in Prince Edward County. Albert was a great father, great papa, wonderful husband, and incredible brother. He was hard working, enjoyed fishing, enjoyed joking around, enjoyed being outdoors, and really enjoyed spending time with family. Albert is survived by his beloved children, daughter Jennifer Wood and husband Aaron Wood of Madison Heights, and son Danny Shoemaker and wife Gina Crago of Lynchburg. He is survived by his brother, Ray Willie Shoemaker of Madison Heights, a beloved daughter-in-law, Angela Shoemaker of Madison Heights, and also a great family friend, Junior Mays of Amherst. He also leaves behind his sweet dog ‘Susie Q’ and many nieces and nephews. Albert leaves behind to cherish his memory his grand children: Michae (Colby) Shoemaker, Joshua (Angel) Shoemaker, Crystal (John) Vaughn, Colton Wood, Danny Ray (Hunter) Crago, Miranda (BJ) Crago, Nick Wright, Chris Wright, and Brandon Wright. He had 14 great-grandchildren. Albert is preceded in death by his parents Willie and Midred Shoemaker, his sisters Mildred ‘Ann’ Poe, Betty Lou Robbins, Sandra Robbins, and his brother Richard Shoemaker. He is now reunited with the wonderful sweet love of his life, his wife Susan Gale Shoemaker whom he was married to for 49 beautiful years. He was also preceded in death by his sons Terry Shoemaker and Mike Shoemaker, and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at Driskill Funeral Chapel on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at 10:00 am. Family will then after invite family and friends to celebrate Albert’s life at 1:00 pm at Monacan Park after the service.
