Alice "Ivy" Depriest

Alice Joyce DePriest, born on November 1, 1941, and affectionately known to all as Ivy, passed away peacefully at her home in Rich Patch on July 29, 2024. A devoted mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend, Ivy’s life was a testament to her resilience and nurturing spirit. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earnest “Jack” Taylor Sr.; her second husband, Ira DePriest; her parents, Nora and Lacy Bailey; her sons, Tony Lewis and Mark Wayne; her daughter-in-law, Connie Sue Taylor; her brothers, Alfred, Doc, Babe, and Arnold; and her sisters, Nadine, Janice, and Jenny. Ivy's memory lives on through her beloved family. She is survived by her sons, Ernest Taylor Jr. and Jeffrey Taylor; her grandchildren, Tony and Tonya Taylor, Heather and Nneka Taylor, and Emma Taylor; her great-grandchildren, Brianna and Blake Taylor; her brothers, Jim and Ernie Bailey; and her sisters, Mary Austin, Sue Menefee, and Eldis Gilbert. Additionally, Ivy embraced her role as a stepmother to ten stepchildren and grandchildren. A celebration of life will be hosted in Rich Patch, VA, on September 8, 2024, with more details to follow.Arrangements by Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 62 VA Market Place Drive, Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
