Alice Robertson

Alice Robertson Alice Juanita Nunley Robertson, 97, of Narrows, VA., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Country View Assisted Living in Peterstown, WV.  Alice was born on July 26, 1927, in Woodman, KY, and was a daughter of the late George Dimpson Nunley and Sallie Smith Nunley.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Carr Robertson, 3 brothers, George Nunley, Clarence Nunley, Herbert Nunley and 1 sister, Claire Elizabeth Nunley.

Her family moved to Narrows VA in 1944, to find work at the Celanese Plant in Narrows.  She graduated the Narrows High School in 1945. She was good friends with Ralph Stanley in school, and would visit his home place every year for his reunions and lots of bluegrass music. At his concerts, he would always tell the audience that he never would have graduated school with out Alice's help!

She married Kenneth Carr Robertson 12/22/51.  They both worked at the Celanese Plant. Kenneth passed 11/25/97.

They built a home on the mountain on Little Walker Creek, where they hosted all their nieces and nephews most summers for a few weeks. She loved the outdoors and her greatest pleasures were watching the wildlife on the mountain, tending her ponies, chickens, pheasants, many flowers & plants. 

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted, Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 2pm at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Chapel in Narrows with Pastor Taylor Hines officiating with burial following in the Fairview Cemetery in Narrows.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour before the service, from 1 – 2pm.  The family is being served by Givens – Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows, (540) 726-2442, and online at riffefuneralservice.com.
