Allan Lee Leffler
Allan Lee Leffler, 87, of Salem passed away on April 21, 2025.
A native of Virginia he was the son of the late Levi and Marion Leffler. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Will and Maude Leffler; and brother in law, Sam Hall. Allan was a veteran of the Naval Reserves. As a member of the Richfield Bird Club, he helped maintain the bluebird houses and monitored the birds’ health from eggs through maturity. He was also a member of the Roanoke County Genealogy Club. And he volunteered with Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed photography, coin collecting, electronic projects, artwork, fishing, enjoying the outdoors, and nature conservation.
As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was a Temple and Family History Consultant, serving a weekly shift in the Family Search Center, assisting others discover their ancestors through genealogical research. He was involved with ministering to families and served as a very cheerful greeter on Sunday mornings. He expressed his love for the Savior with those around him by word and example.
The family will receive friends at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salem on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 12:00 until 1:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at the church at 1:00 pm with Bishop Gerken officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers Allan asked for contributions to the general missionary fund of his church. To do this: write a check to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on the memo line write “In memory of Allan Leffler General Missionary Fund”, then mail to Bishop Gerken, 1931 Maylin Drive, Salem, VA 24153 or if you attend the visitation or funeral envelopes for this purpose will be provided.
