Allen Bailey McBride
Allen Bailey McBride
January 13, 1929 - October 7, 2022
On a cold day in Redwood, there came into this world a small bundle that the doctor said would not live. With the love of his mother and his own determination, he survived and flourished in this world. Allen Bailey McBride was born on January 13, 1929, the son of Bailey McBride and Ludie Turner McBride. He often recalled the great times that he had running all through the countryside with his brothers and working on the farm. He met the love of his life, Mary Foster McBride, at a baseball game and they spent 69 years together. He honorably served his country in the Army during the time of the Korean War. Upon returning home, he and Mary were married and he went to work at J.P. Stevens where he was the plant engineer for the facilities in Rocky Mount and Ferrum. With his growing mechanical skills, he soon became a trouble-shooter for the Company throughout the Southeast. He was a long-time member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.
Allen was predeceased by his brothers, Willard, Herbert and David and he is survived by his sisters: Bernice, Ruth, Rachel and Joyce. He was blessed with two daughters, Lynn Boggess and her husband Carl and Theresa and her husband Roger; grandchildren, Cassandra, William, Colin and Ben and great-grandchildren, Lucas, Vivian, Weston, Ezekiel and Joselyn. Allen loved morning biscuits and meeting with friends in Rocky Mount, he loved his family and especially adored his grandchildren, but most of all he loved his devoted and loving wife, Mary.
