Alma Stowers Vaughn

Alma Stowers Vaughn, 92, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. She was preceded by her husband, A.E. Vaughn Jr.; her parents, Harry and Beulah Stowers; brothers, Thomas Stowers and Daniel Stowers; and an infant sister, Margaret Sue Stowers.

Alma “Mawmaw” is survived by her sons, Martin Fridley (Robin) and Joseph Fridley (April); daughters, Susan Weiner (Tim), Sandra Newcomb (Rob), and Lisa Walters; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren (and one on the way); sisters, Lillian Adkins, Peggy Stacy (Donald), Betty Hall, and Virginia Nunley; and many nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed being outside and tending to her flower gardens. She lived independently and leaned on her strong Christian faith. Family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were the shining light of her life.

The family will have a Visitation at Simpson Funeral Home (5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019) on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 3:00-4:00pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 4:00pm.
