Alvin Tilton Taylor

Alvin Tilton Taylor, Sr., 80, of Axton, Va. passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Axton, October 7, 1945, to William Harden Taylor, Sr. and Nellie Velma Bullins Taylor.

In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by his siblings, Ernest “Rocky” Taylor, William Harden Taylor, Jr., Velma Diane Taylor and Jerry Wayne Taylor; and his daughter-in-law, Tabitha Carol Taylor

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Edna Simmons Taylor; children, A. Tilton Taylor, Jr., Jody Lee Taylor and Clint Robert Taylor; grandchildren, Brandon Lee Taylor, Lauren Taylor Toler (Taylor), Lexi Jade Taylor; siblings, Carolyn Ashworth (Don), Teresa Barrigar (Gene) and Danny Taylor; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alvin was a very hard-working man who loved his family and church family. He cared a lot for his many friends and others in the community. He retired from the city of Martinsville Water Department in 2006.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at McKee-Stone Funeral Home, 109 Broad Street in Martinsville, Va. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Temple Baptist Church and will be officiated by Reverend Don Reynolds. Interment will follow in the Compton Family Cemetery on Gallery Road in Axton.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Taylor, Jimmy Ashworth, David Dean, Tony Kirks, Danny Cassada and Dan Wyatt.
