Alvis Robert Rife

ALVIS ROBERT RIFE, 73, of Bastian, VA, went home to be with the Lord he faithfully served on Sunday, September 21, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born September 18, 1952 in McDowell County, WV, the son of the late Anthony & June Rife.

Alvis was a Christian who took his walk with the Lord very seriously. He read his bible daily.

He was an avid collector of comic books and action figures. His favorites were the X-Men and Captain America.

Alvis loved his daughters and was especially proud of his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Lawson & Laura June Coleman Rife and his brother, Travis Ray Rife.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved daughters, Laura Marie & Joey Parnell and Ashley & Devin Halterman; his beloved grandchildren, Brooke, Blake and Quaid; and his siblings, Gilda & Garnie Kennedy, Hilda & Larry Sutphin and Merrill Rife; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Per his wishes, Alvis will be cremated. A memorial service is planned for Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 7:00 P.M. at Bastian Church of God with Pastor Christopher Harman and Pastor Cliff Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 6:00 P.M. until service time, 7:00 P.M.
