Amanda Lee Dorsey

Amanda Lee Dorsey, 83, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024. She was born December 1, 1940, to the late James Ralph Hairston and Jannie Hall Hairston.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Wyteena Hairston; sister, Barbara Jean Hairston; brothers, James Ralph Hairston, Jr., Thomas Jefferson “Bird” Hairston, and Lewis Hairston “Chops”; and grandchild Martavious Mease.

Amanda held memberships at both Gospel Light Holiness Church and Refuge Temple Ministries. She enjoyed working with her hands, specifically crocheting and quilting and loved different scented soaps. Most of all, Amanda loved her family more than anything.

Amanda is survived by her husband, Albert Dorsey; sons, Albert Dorsey, Jr., Dennis Lamont Dorsey, Ronnie Dorsey, and Dwayne Hairston; sisters, Sallie Roberts and Deborah Hairston; brother, Jerome Hairston; grandchildren, Elexis Dandridge, Irvin Hairston (Shantay), Dyterius Hairston; special nephew, Quinn Hairston; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. At other times friends and family may visit at 725 Fayette Street, Martinsville, Virginia 24112, between the hours of 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
