Andre' (Andy) Milton Arrington (age 67) passed from this earth on a warm sunny day of Wednesday, January 18, 2023 after a brief illness at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. Andy was born on November 19, 1955, and grew up in Rocky Mount, Virginia, a son of his departed loving parents, Milton and Mary B. Arrington. Andy was a member of Rocky Mount Christian Church, where he received his Eagle Scout award with Troop 30, worked as a volunteer at Franklin County Rescue Squad and graduated from Franklin County High School in 1974. His love of music while a high school marching band member led him to attending Virginia Tech where he was a member of the Marching Virginians. He later worked in the banking industry and transitioned to medical transportation with Carilion Hospital. This was the perfect job for Andy... as any of his family or friends can tell you, Andy simply loved to be with and help people. Andy's hobbies were traveling, birding, and woodworking. After retirement, Andy moved back to his hometown of Rocky Mount, Virginia to spend time with and take care of his mother, Mary B. Arrington, who passed in October of 2022. Andy transferred his membership to Franklin Heights Church where he enjoyed his church family and singing in the choir. Music was a big part of Andy's life and he loved the comradery of being part of the music programs in his church. Andy is survived by his brothers, Gregg (Jane) Arrington of Greensboro, North Carolina; Marc (Denise) Arrington of Roanoke, Virginia; uncle, Wayne (Shirley) Bennett of Clemson, South Carolina, and special (second mom) Rochelle Simmons of Rocky Mount, Virginia. A memorial service will be held at Franklin Heights Church, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2023. Light refreshments will be served immediately following the service. Inurnment will take place High Street Cemetery. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to be made in Andy's name for the Franklin County Rescue Squad. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
