Anita Boone

Anita Paige VanBuren Boone, age 60, of 703 Greenbrier Ave, Covington, Virginia died Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Lewis Gale Medical Center-Salem.

She was born June 30, 1962 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late William “Pete” Dodd, Jr., and Martha Lawler VanBuren. She was a custodian for McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, Covington where she was active in bible school and the Christmas cheer program. She was also a custodian at Granbery United Methodist Church. She was involved in the Covington Highlighters Majorette’s and the Christmas cheer program. She was an avid LA Dodgers fan and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eugenia Nicely.

She is survived by her husband, Robert “Rob” Boone; a daughter, Megan Plott and husband, Benjamin all of Covington; a son, Israel Boone and wife, Danielle of Troutville; a brother, Michael Van Buren of Williamsburg; five grandchildren, Reagan Paitsel, Rylee Plott, Eli Plott, Granger Boone and Griffin Boone; special friends, Kelly Crowder and Susan Givens; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
