Annabel Adams Eastham
Annabel Adams Eastham, 91, of Roanoke, died August 9, 2024 at Brandon Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born November 3, 1932 in New Martinsville, WV. She was the daughter of William Fitzsimmons Adams and Audra Marie Sturm Gautschi.
Annabel was a 1950 graduate of Magnolia High School in New Martinsville where she was a resident for most of her life. She was a housewife and mother, but also owned and operated Eastham's Pet and Hobby Shop. In 1999, Annabel moved to Virginia and has lived in Roanoke for 23 years. For the last 10 years, she has been a resident of Brandon Oaks Life Plan Community.
Annabel was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed playing impromptu concerts for her neighbors at Brandon Oaks. Her favorite musical genre was "boogie woogie", which she played with particular enthusiasm. Annabel had a keen interest in politics and always followed the elections very closely. She was also fascinated by astronomy and the happenings at NASA, especially the search for life in the universe. Annabel enjoyed crocheting. She crafted more than 30 beautiful afghans during her later years and distributed them to her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Annabel was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Nile Gene Eastham, and also by her beloved Aunt Minnie (Arminta Adams) who was a very special person in her life.
Annabel is survived by her sister, Billie Lea Young of Amory, MS and four children: Daniel Adams Eastham (Peggy) of Cary, NC; Linda Ann Eastham (Yvonne) of Palmyra, VA; Sandra Kay Cramer (Ken) of Jamestown, NY; and Michael Gene Eastham (Sharon) of Roanoke. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Rebecca Adams and Adam Eastham, both of Roanoke; Erica Reitsma (Jason) of Charlottesville, VA; Thomas Cramer of Jamestown, NY; and Jennifer Cramer (Matt) of East Falmouth, MA. Annabel's great-grandchildren are Liam Newberry and Caleigh Reitsma.
Services will be held on Monday, August 12 at 3:00 p.m. in the Brandon Oaks auditorium, Pastor Meredith Williams officiating. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Road Chapel (540)366-0707.
