Ashley Luann Shumate Goins

Ms. Ashley LuAnn Shumate Goins, 37, of Dobson, North Carolina, passed away November 10, 2024. Born July 29, 1987, to James Keith Shumate and Cynthia Hutchens Atkins. Ashley was a true shining light. She had a unique and humble way of filling a room with joy just with a simple smile. Ashley loved people, and loved to serve people, if she saw a need she would do anything in her power to fill that need for any person, she would give the shirt off her back to help a stranger. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, niece, and friend. Left to cherish her memory is her father and step-mother, James Shumate and Lucy; mother and step-father, Cynthia Atkins and Chuck; daughters, Kyleigh Shumate, and Kailyn Thornburg; sister, Trista Shumate; brothers and sister-in-law, Michael Cody Atkins, Bryan Shumate and Casse, Brandon Atkins, and Justin Atkins; paternal grandfather, James Shumate; uncles and aunt, Rodney Shumate, and Steven Shumate and Ann; aunt and uncle, Diane Key and Brian; significant other, Colby Cassell; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Renda Shumate; and maternal grandparents, Dennis and Nancy Hutchens. A funeral service will be held Monday, November 18, 2024, at Welcome View Baptist Church at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends one hour prior from 10:00 until 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Welcome View Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to family to assist with funeral expenses, or for the scholarship fund being created to honor her memory.
