Robert "Bob" Howard Belvin

December 29, 1951 - May 16, 2022

Robert (Bob) Howard Belvin was born to Robert Lee Belvin and Fern Elizabeth Berry on December 29, 1951. He left his earthly home on May 16, 2022, reuniting with his parents, sister Fern B. Belvin, and other family members.

For more than 16 years, Bob fought the good fight, finished his race, and kept the faith. He was an inspiration to all as he persevered over a brain injury, determined to not let the injury define his life.

Bob was a longtime member of the former Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. More recently he was part of the church family at New Creation Ministries. He was an undergraduate of the University of North Carolina and a postgraduate of the College of William and Mary. Although he was a true blue Tarheel, he also was a Hokie convert!

Before his accident, Bob was an avid runner and he played (or rather played at) a little golf. When he wasn’t running, you could find him exercising in the YMCA fitness center. His greatest running achievement was running in and completing the Marine Corps Marathon in 1998. As for golf, his biggest achievement was making it to and from the annual Myrtle Beach golf outings safely. He loved to mow the grass at our house, hurrying home on Friday evenings to fire up the lawn mower.

Bob began his work career which spanned 30 years at N&W Railroad and later Norfolk Southern Corp. He worked in both the Engineering and Finance/Accounting Divisions.

Bob is survived by Rosemary, his wife of 32 years; his stepson Trevor Norford of Salem, VA.; his stepdaughter Jennifer Norford of Denver, CO.; his stepson A.D. Norford (wife Kathy and children Madelyn and Luke) of Greenwood Village, CO; and his niece Adrienne Warren (husband Dave and son Steven) of Virginia Beach, VA. He also leaves behind the Woodhaven staff at his home away from home.

There will be no visitation or services. Memorials may be made to New Creation Ministries, 202 E. 3rd Street, Salem, VA 24153.
