Lynetta "Fern" Willis Stilwell

October 27, 1955 - May 19, 2022

Lynetta “Fern” Willis Stilwell, born of Northern Virginia, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, May 19, 2022. She passed peacefully at home with family after an extended battle with multiple illnesses.
She served her community for many years. She was a dedicated church member of East Gate Church of the Nazarene and later Garden City Church of the Nazarene, She had a heart for children and was active in both churches in the children’s ministry programs. She also volunteered with Carilion Hospice and had a true love for serving families in their time of need.
As an adult, she furthered her education at Nazarene Bible College (Colorado Spring, CO), Virginia Western Community College (Roanoke, VA), and Miller Motte Technical College (Roanoke, VA). She worked many years as a Phlebotomist with Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital as well as Lewis Gale Hospital, Salem VA where she retired from in 2016.
She owned and operated a successful bakery and catering company, “Creations By Lynetta”, in Vinton, VA where she served the Roanoke area as well as surrounding areas.
She is survived by her loving, caring husband, Guy Stilwell of Vinton, VA. She is also survived by her three Children: Delmer “Charlie” (Chuck) Charles, Jr. (and wife Shelly Charles) of Chestertown, MD. James “Allen” Charles (and wife Jessica Charles) of Roanoke, VA. Andrea Wilhelm (and wife Kristina Wilhelm) of Vinton, VA. She had nine grandchildren who she adored: Austin Smith, Eric Adkins, Hunter Charles, Zackary Charles, Kylie Charles, Jesse James Charles, Kara Rickey, Kieran Wilhelm and Kamden Wilhelm. She is also survived by her siblings, Fran LeRose, Jeff Willis, Mike Willis, Pamela Secrist and Chad Willis. She was preceded in death by her parents: Franklin “D.” Willis and Joyce Haynes Willis of Timberville, VA; as well as her siblings: Sandy Bennett, Joan Martin and Ricky Willis.
The family will be receiving guests Sunday May 22, 2022 at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton, VA 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. Her service will be held Monday May 23, 2022 at Garden City Church of the Nazarene Roanoke, VA at 1:00 pm. The family will gather at Garden City Church of the Nazarene at 11:30 am Monday May 23, 2022 for an hour of togetherness prior to her service.

Lynetta “Fern” was a wife, mother, grandmother, sibling and friend to many. She will be missed more than can be expressed but the family finds insurmountable peace knowing she was healed by The Great Physician, is at eternal rest and in the presence of her Savior.
