Nancy Fretwell Thompson

Nancy Fretwell Thompson, 92, of the Preston area of Martinsville, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022.  She was born in Henry County on January 17, 1930 to the late James “Jim” Fretwell and the late Virgie Tuggle Fretwell.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, William “Bud” Thompson.
Nancy is survived by her children, Timothy D. Thompson (Chrissy) of Pulaski, Richard L Thompson (Donita) of Martinsville, Jane T Brown (Daniel) of Powhatan, and Kenneth D Thompson (Debbie Price) of Martinsville; grandchildren, Ashley Brown, William Brown, Allie Thompson, Heather Thompson, Tyler Cardwell, and Bailey Shreve; 10 great-grandchildren.
Nancy was an only child and a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church for over 60 years.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel where a funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jim Pence officiating.  Burial will follow at Blackberry Baptist Church Cemetery in Bassett.  The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Richard Thompson
