W. Jack Waters

W. Jack Waters, 83 of Ridgeway, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the Senior Care Home in Bassett. He was born August 27, 1938 in Pinetown, North Carolina, to the late Cecil Jackson “Tommy” Waters and Ercie Irene Woolard Waters.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962 in the Korean Conflict, and was a member of American Legion Pannill Post #42.

He received his Bachelor’s Degree from NC State University, and had been employed in furniture manufacturing. Prior to retiring he was an electromotive engineer and a truck driver. He enjoyed his garden, was an avid bee keeper, enjoyed classic cars, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

Jack is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Mayo Waters; daughter, Cecile Marie Waters List (David); son, Barry Jackson Waters (Sabrina); six grandchildren, Hannah Merrill (Cory), Alyson Jelicich (Adam), Christopher List, Daniel List, Joella Waters and Josiah Waters; four great-grandchildren, Eliza, Natalie, Kairi, and Samuel; and sisters, Irene Johnson and Christene Jones (Johnny).

The memorial service will be Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 12:00 PM at Hillcrest Baptist Church, with Pastor Doug Ramsey officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
