Shirley Weaver Flippen

Shirley Weaver Flippen 73, of Bassett passed away July 15, 2022 at Sovah of Martinsville. Born on August 14, 1948 the daughter of the late Ivory G. Weaver, Sr. and the late Myrtle B. Hodges Weaver.  She was also preceded in death by her husband James R. Flippen, son Matthew W. Flippen.  Shirley was a member of Mill Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Henry, Va. She was a graduated of John D. Bassett High School in 1968. Shirley also worked at Tultex in the Cutting department as a scheduler and a part time caregiver.
Surviving are her son Michael S. Flippen, daughters Jennifer D. Flippen, Teressa Fields (Bruce) and Cynthia Ritter (Kevin), sisters Trish Nardozzi (Michael) and Ruby Roberts, brothers Foutain Weaver, Carroll Weaver (Martha), Michael Weaver (Diana), Ivory Weaver, Jr., John Weaver (Beth), 27 nephews and nieces. Also surviving are grandsons. Noah Flippen, Daniel Cox, granddaughters, Sarah Flippen, Mattison Joyce – Flippen.  
The visitation will be Monday July 25, 2022 from 12 – 1 p.m. in the chapel of Bassett Funeral Service with funeral services to follow at 1:00 p.m.  with Pastor Barry Cundiff and Brother Carroll Weaver officiating with burial to follow in Henry Memorial Park.
