James David Compton

When Knowing Matters...
James David Compton, 78, of Bassett, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Sovah Health-Martinsville.  He was born in Bassett Forks on June 25, 1944, to the late Willard Compton and the late Lillian Bobblit Compton.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Compton.
James is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Judy Cook Compton; son, Corwin Compton (Vickie) of Collinsville; grandchildren, Lori Compton and Krista Compton; great-grandchildren, Said Brown and Ilianna Duran; sister Cleo Spencer of Collinsville; brother Larry Compton of Sacramento, CA; sisters-in-law, Ruth Kelley of Stuart and Peggy Kiss of Greensboro, NC; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jason Alverson officiating.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville.
