Elizabeth Anne Wood Burleigh

Elizabeth Anne Wood Burleigh, 91, of Concord, died Sunday, July 24, 2022. She was the wife of the late Henry Turner “H.T.” Burleigh, Jr.

Born in Danville, VA, August 3, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Mary McNair and William Hocker Wood. Anne was a devout Christian, loving mother. She was a very accomplished artist, wonderful cook, loved gardening, avid volunteer in the community and with the American Red Cross, Daily Bread, and Reading across the US.

She is survived by two sons, Rev. William T. Burleigh and wife, Shelley, M. Phillip Burleigh and wife Sandy all of Concord; two daughters, Mary B. Martin and husband, Kenneth of Richmond and Joan B. Thompson and husband, David of Concord; one sister, Rachel M. Frees of Texas; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a son-in-law, Michael Dwyer of Danville, PA.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan B. Dwyer; one brother, William McNair Wood; four sisters, Mary Lee Copeland, Roberta Brown, Laura Simmons and Jane Glass.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Robinson Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2022, at New Concord Presbyterian Church. Per Anne’s wishes following the service you are invited to join the family for a time of fellowship at Blue Hill Farm.
