Phyllis Jean Eanes Thompson

Phyllis Jean Eanes Thompson, 85 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 28, 2022. Phyllis was born in Lego, WV on May 3, 1937, and was a daughter of the late Ura Schooley Eanes and June Craighead Eanes. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John R. Fisher, her second husband, Wyles “Tommy” Thompson, one daughter, Teresa Anne Showalter and 3 brothers. Phyllis graduated from Tazewell High School and received her B.S. and Master’s Degree from Radford University in education. She taught chemistry and biology at Giles High School for many years. She loved quilting, growing roses and attending the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg and many other church activities. She traveled extensively to locations including, Mexico, China and to most all of the states including Alaska and Hawaii. She is survived by 2 daughters, Karen Lynn Degraw of Ripplemead, Debbie Kay Journell of Ripplemead, step-daughter, Andrea McCall of Portland, ME, 7 grandchildren, Erick Falls, Jason Butler, Jennifer Claytor, Kurt Marcussen, III, Kristen Marcussen, Cody Journell, Carson Journell, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, July 31, 2022, at 3pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Dr. Brian Burch officiating.
