Barbara Fortune Petitt

Barbara Fortune Petitt, 81, of Forest, Virginia, died Friday, July 29, 2022, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Francis Eugene Petitt.
Born in Wooster, Ohio, on November 28, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Dixie Lee Eure and George Fortune, Jr. She was a member of Lynchburg Salvation Army Church and the Humane Society. Barbara enjoyed politics, modeling, and especially taking care of homeless animals.
She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Hathcock Sanders of Springfield, VA and a grandson, John Thomas Sanders, who she adored.
In lieu of flowers Barbara requested donations be made to Planned Pethood, 18401 Virgil H Goode Highway, Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
A private burial will take place in Hillcrest-Abbey East Cemetery, Savannah, GA.
