Mattie Irene Goff

April 19, 1935 - August 1, 2022

Mattie Irene Adkins Goff, 87, of Lynchburg, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on August 1, 2022, at Forest Health and Rehab.
Born in Pittsylvania County, on April 19, 1935, she was a daughter of the late John Adkins and Isabel Neal Adkins. She was a member of The Church of God. Irene volunteered at the Salvation Army and loved being “A soldier in God’s army”, ringing the bell at River Ridge Mall. She would also give out water at E.C. Glass High School during the Virginia 10 miler. She was a New York Yankees fan and loved baseball and would even stay up late watching ball games.
Irene was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters, Clarence Adkins, Clyde Adkins, Maedell Gallier, Louella White, Vennie Ford, Curnel Adkins, Curtis Adkins, Connie Gunter, Geneva Adkins, Virginia Abbott, Ruby Adkins, Reva Worth, and Christine Garbee.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, August 6, 2022, in the Mausoleum at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Duane Seagle officiating.
