Dwight Eugene Hall, Sr.

February 24, 1944 - August 3, 2022

Dwight Eugene Hall Sr., 78, passed away August 3, 2022, at Sovah Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. He was born on February 24, 1944, to the late Nancy Hairston Hall and the late Joe H. Hall in Martinsville, Virginia.

He attended elementary school in Martinsville and graduated from George Washington Carver High School., class of 1963. He took numerous classes to further his education.

Dwight was a hard worker. He had his first job at 8 years old, as an adult, he worked at E.I. Dupont as a supervisor for 27 years. He was on the Safety team and was CPR Certified.

After leaving Dupont, he drove for warren Trucking for 3 years and transitioned to Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He retired after 11 years of service. He came out of retirement and drove the school bus for Henry County Public Schools for 5 years. Even though he was given one of the toughest bus routes in the county, when he retired the kids on his route loved him!

Dwight loved to have a good time with family and friends. He loved any type of cars/motorcycles and spent many hours encouraging the young men in the community while he worked on their cars. He loved to fish, to travel, do yard work, watch cowboy movies, and support whatever team his son Gene, and

son-n-law Tony liked! Go Cowboys! He was an excellent provider, not just to his family, but to others in need.

Dwight was baptized in Jesus’ name by Bishop H.C. Eggleston. He became a member of Gospel Light Holiness Church under his late father-in-law. He sung on the male chorus, drove the church bus and van, and helped wherever he was needed. He later joined Gethsemane Apostolic Church of Christ under the leadership of his brother, Elder Kirkwood Hall (Lady Zandra) and attended until his health declined.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ronnie; son Gene; twin grandsons, Lesley and Wesley Hall; daughter-n-law, Jennifer Lynn Street Hall; son-n-law, Terelle Hairston; father-n-law, Bishop Robert S. Moyer.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Eloise Moyer Hall of the home; two daughters, Stephanie Hall Gravely (Tony), of Danville, Virginia, Torrey Hall Hairston, of Martinsville, Virginia; brother, Elder Kirkwood (Zandra) Hall, of Martinsville, Virginia; sister, JoAnne “Candy” Galloway (Wayne), of Martinsville, Virginia; Grandchildren, Diant’e Gravley, Natavia Hall, Maia Hall, and Ashante Gravley; aunts, Ruby Valentine (Bobby), Elizabeth Gears, and Lillie Mae Witcher; Uncle, Johnny Hairston,; Nieces, Meinyon Hall Woods, (Terell), Yael Galloway, Jasmyn and Mya Woods; nephews, Marco Hall (Lashon), Quennel Galloway, Joah Cosby, Joshua and Justin Hall. A host of cousins, extended family and friends.

The funeral will be Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 11:30 A.M. at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Elder Arnold Bullock officiating. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one half hour prior to the service.
