Barbara Anne Mangiaracina

June 5, 1945 - August 6, 2022

Mrs. Barbara Anne Mangiaracina, 77, of Boones Mill, VA, formerly of East Benton, PA passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, August 6.

Born in Oceanside, NY, Barbara graduated from Calhoun High School in North Merrick, NY in 1963. She went on to become a legal secretary in Smithtown, NY for many years and retired to East Benton, PA in 1995.

Barbara married the love of her life, Joseph Richard Mangiaracina, in 1982 after their brief courtship which began when he came to her rescue over a broken faucet. Both single parents, they blended their families and together raised three children. Through good times and bad, their loved remained steadfast and their affection for one another deepened over their 40 year marriage.

Barbara most recently belonged to Penn Forest Worship Center in Roanoke, VA where she was welcomed into a loving community, quickly making friends, as was her way. Barbara was known by many to be the life of the party. She brought laughter and joy to all she knew. Barbara was extremely generous and compassionate. She was charitable with her time, her heart, and her resources. She looked for ways to bless others and leave things better than she found them. Barbara always took pride in looking her best, keeping a beautiful home and spoiling her kids, grandkids, and nieces.

Barbara enjoyed being active at church, spending time with family, shopping, shooting, and just being with her husband Joe enjoying the home they built together with their dog, Finnegan.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Barbara Stieglitz and her cherished grandson, Zachary.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph: daughter, Anny (spouse Kyle) Walker: son, Eric (spouse Colleen) Tarantino: daughter, Chrissy (spouse Bill) McLaughlin: seven grandchildren: one great grandson: brother, Robert (spouse Judy) Stieglitz: sister Christine Bruns: sister, Ginny Ricotta: sister-in-law, Vicki Mangiaracina and cherished nieces, Chrissy Woods, Elise Ricotta, and Taylor Spellman.

It was Barbara’s wish to forego visitation at this time and for friends and family to gather for a celebration of her life at a later date.
