Nancy Joy Puckette

Nancy Joy Puckette, 88, of Rustburg, died Sunday, August 7, 2022. She was married three times to the late Clyde Herford Pillow, Frank Layman Steppe, Jr., and David Jennings Puckette, Sr.
Born in Campbell County, Va., on September 25, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Mable Estelle Harper and Urban Lyle Joy, Sr. She was a member of New Chapel Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Brookneal High School and MCV Radiology School. Nancy was a Registered Radiological Technologist at Lynchburg General Hospital for 41 years, retiring as a supervisor.
She is survived by one son, Roderick Shawn Pillow and wife, Belinda; two granddaughters, B. Amanda Winks and husband, Forrest and Lauren N. Pillow; three great-grandchildren, Reagan, Joseph and Kennedy Winks; one sister, Hazel S. Williamson and husband, Earl; four step-children, David Puckette, Jr. and wife, Linda, Violet Esposito and husband, Claude, Willie Puckette, and David Edwards; sister-in-law, Patsy L. Joy; two nieces, Susan S. Maxey and husband, David and Brenda J. Brown and husband, Harold; and a host of great nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Urban Lyle Joy, Jr. and Billy Ray Joy; brother-in-law, Wallace C. Steele, Sr.; one nephew, Wallace C. “Chip” Steele, Jr.; and a stepdaughter, Shirley P. Edwards.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 15, 2022, at New Chapel Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Tim Dooley officiating.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Dale, Shawntae, Denise and the Blessings of Hope Companion Service for their care of Nancy. They would also like to thank Seven Hills Hospice for their service.
