John Ranc Whitley
John R. Whitley went home to be with the Lord on August 9, 2022, in Roanoke, Virginia, at the age of 75.
He had been a resident of Roanoke for over 30 years working as a claims adjuster before retiring. John had lived in several other states in his life, but his passion was for Wyoming. He always dreamed of making it back there one day where he had previously served as a police officer after an honorable discharge from the US Air Force.
John lived a quiet life and loved to go to the shooting range and watch old movies – especially westerns. John came to know the Lord earlier in his life and his passion to serve God and to witness to others was evident when you met him. His favorite book of the Bible was John. John cared for everyone he met and had a huge heart that showed in all he did.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Dorette Bolzan; and father, Claude Whitley.
He is survived by his two younger brothers, Roger Whitley of Salem, Virginia, and Claude “Skip” Whitley of Sparrow Bush, New York; daughter, Jana Hagel, of Hazen, North Dakota; and numerous nieces and nephews. His was a beloved brother and uncle and will be greatly missed.
We will see him again one day when the clouds are parted and all those that trusted and believed in Jesus Christ as one’s personal Lord and Savior will be welcomed home.
