Ricky Lee Poore

October 3, 1980 - August 10, 2022

Ricky Lee Poore, 41, of Roanoke, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022. Born in Roanoke, VA to the Ricky Lee Cadd, Sr. and the late Katherine Wright Cadd on October 3, 1980, he is also preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald and Norma Collins and Ernest and Louise Cadd.

Ricky graduated from Salem High School and felt called to study nursing in order to care for others. He earned a master’s degree from VCU and would serve as a nurse practitioner. After losing his mother, he decided it was time to step away from nursing. Several years of ups and downs passed and Ricky reconnected with an old friend that he first met in middle school. He found his soul mate in Tony Poore. They began dating in April 2012 and were soon inseparable, living and working side by side for the years to come. Tony asked Ricky to marry him and on December 11, 2016, they exchanged wedding vows. Several years later, Thor Construction gave Ricky and Tony a chance and they found their third family. Beginning April 13, 2020, Ricky devoted himself to his new career determined to succeed and make his mark in commercial construction.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving husband, Anthony (Tony) Lee Poore; father and stepmother, Ricky Lee, Sr. and Lisa Cadd; sister, Traci Riggs and husband, David; stepdaughter, Caiden Carper; In-laws, James Walter and Wendy Sue Poore; Sisters-in-law, Joni and Kristen Link; brother-in-law, James Poore and wife, Angela; nephews, Skyler Riggs, Michael Johnson, and Benjamin Riggs; nieces, Marley Riggs, and Autumn Riggs, who always held a special place in his heart.

The family will welcome friends on Sunday, August 21, 2022, in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00 with Pastor Doug Jones officiating.
