Mildred Hairston Adams

Mildred Hairston Adams, 79, of Martinsville, Virginia passed on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at her residence. She was born on July 6, 1943, in Henry County to the late George and Sadie Matthews Hairston. She had worked for Tultex and Food Lion. She loved to play Bingo, going shopping and cooking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sherwood Adams; son, General Grant Martin, Jr.; sister, Carolyn Stockton and a brother, James Hairston.

She is survived by daughter, Robin Benton, son, Robert Stockton; sisters, Sadie Washington, Florence Hairston and Shirley Slade; brother, George Hairston, Jr.; grandchildren, Ashley Stockton, Tarika Preston (Nelson), Miquell Stockton (Monica), Robert Stockton, Jr.; Grant Martin (Kayla); and a host of great-grandchildren.

Her service will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Wright Funeral Service and visitation from 2:00 pm until time of service. A floating visitation will be held in the chapel of Wright Funeral Service on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 from 1:00-5:00 pm.
