Naomi Young Harris

Naomi Young Harris, 89, of Axton, Virginia passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at her home. She was born October 4, 1933, in Bartow, Georgia to the late Rev. Malachi Young and Mary Lee Fleming Young. She was a member of Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church and had worked at Mercer Medical Center as a CDS Technician for 42 years. She went to Mercer County Community College and was a Senior Usher at Beauty Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Trenton, New Jersey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Harris; daughter, Alberta Ralph of Chicago, Illinois; son, Jerome Young of Phoenix, Arizona; sisters, Maggie Johnson, Versa Young and Willa Mae Durant; brothers, Harvard Young, Roma Dell Young and Roy Young; grandchildren, Brian Ralph and Fredrick Defreitas, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Velma Sykes-Niblett (Bob) of Axton, Virginia, Vanessa Reed and Rosalind Ruff of Trenton, New Jersey; sister, Lillie Mae Ebron of Fayetteville, North Carolina; brother, James Young of Seneca, South Carolina; and grandchildren, Eric Ralph, Steven Sykes, Keith Ralph, Michelle Ralph, Elmer Reed, Jr., Stephanie Reed, Sam Ruff, Ryneshia Ruff, Joshua Young, Rayna Young, Angelo Velazquez, Jr., Joseph Defreitas and Gabrielle Ruff.

A funeral will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023 at 1:00 P. M. at Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church with visitation thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens.
