Betty Ann Dennis

Surrounded by her loving family and pets, Betty Ann Major Dennis peacefully passed away at her home in Appomattox, VA on March 13, 2023. She was 82 years old.
Born on March 31, 1940, in Red Bank, NJ she was the daughter of Helen and Bill Major and sister to George Sewing and Marilyn Hendricks, (son - Buddy Hill).
In high school, Betty fell in love with John “Jackie” Dennis Jr. It was in 1959, that they married and later became parents to three daughters and a son: Laura, Linda, Chris Dennis, and Lisa Romano. They resided in Monmouth Beach, NJ where Betty was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Monmouth Beach Fire Company and enjoyed having coffee with her friends. In 1999, Betty and her husband moved to Appomattox alongside her daughter, Lisa, son-in-law, Greg Romano, and two grandchildren, Victoria and Sophia Romano. Laura joined them in 2008, making for many memories together.
Lucky to call her “Nanny” were her grandchildren, Victoria and Sophia Romano, Nikki Campbell, and Jerri-Ann Gizzarelli; great-granddaughter Kenzlee, and great-grandson, Christopher.
Betty enjoyed gardening, sitting on the porch, taking care of her family, and playing with her dogs Spike, Frankie, and granddogs Roxy, Gracie, and Boo-Boo.
Betty is predeceased by her parents, husband, and son, Christopher.
The family would like to express great gratitude to Dian Pickett of Centra Health Hospice of Farmville and her very special caretaker, Dalia Gregory.

A graveside service will be held 2 pm, Friday, March 31, 2023, at Fair View Cemetery in Red Bank, NJ.
