Herbert Norman "Herb" Krebs

January 26, 1964 - July 1, 2023

On Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 9:30 a.m., Herbert N. Krebs II ran into the arms of Jesus and is now reunited with his son Justice Allen Krebs.

Herb was born in Panama City, FL on January 26, 1964 to Herbert N. Krebs and Barbara C. Krebs. His father was in the Air Force and they lived and travelled to many places both domestic and international. His first love was always the Lord followed by his wife and family. He felt family was important and wanted to spend time with them as often as he could through visits and vacations together. He was very close to his family and he was always “bragging” on his children, which included his niece, Katy and nephew, Jeremy. His children were adopted and he loved telling people, especially them, that he chose them to love and he did love them with all his heart.

Herb graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in Camden, Del. and entered the Air Force Academy. He served in the Air Force before meeting his wife, Seleena at a wedding in March of 1985. They were engaged a month later in April 1985 and married 3 months later on July 6, 1985. They celebrated their 38th anniversary a little early before he moved on to his eternal home. Herb worked many places over the years, including the commissary, the airlines, in material handling, and other ventures. He ran his own DJ business – Quantum Leap DJ’s for many years as a side business. He was very proud when in July 2015, Herb started his own business, Forklift Parts 4 Less, LLC. The company is still going strong and will now be run in his honor by his wife, Seleena Krebs with help from the employees. He was an avid sports fan with his biggest thrill being college football. His team was the Ohio State Buckeyes. He also loved to play golf with his “cousin,” who was one of his best friends, and his friends from church. Herb also enjoyed going fishing with his second father, Calvin. He drove all the way to Maine just so they could fish together in the lake. He enjoyed going to hockey games with his father, Herb and brother, Steve.

Herb had a great sense of humor and loved to tease his family members and friends. He liked to play around and have fun. He could always make his wife smile or laugh, even when she was in a bad mood. If Herb considered you as a friend, then consider yourself blessed. While sometimes brutally honest, you could always count on him to shoot it straight. Herb’s heart was pure, and his ear was always open if you needed it. If you were down, Herb could always find a way to pull a laugh out of you. He was a true friend! Herb loved to help people whenever he could, and he never met a stranger. He loved working behind the scenes at his church, Villa Heights Baptist Church, helping in the nursery, working in the kitchen and just being there for them in any way he could help. While he attended many churches over the years, his first membership was at Villa Heights. He believed in Villa Heights and loved his “church family” more than anyone realized.

His son, Justice Krebs predeceased him in February 2019. Left to honor his memory are his wife, Seleena; his daughter, Shannen (Vannin); his grandson, Landen; his parents, Herb and Barbara Krebs; his brother, Steven Krebs (Heather); his parents-in-law, Calvin and Bonnie LaPradd; his brother-in-law, Ryan LaPradd (Melissa); his niece, Katy Woods (Jeremy); and his nephew, Jeremy LaPradd (Beth). He also leaves behind 2 great-nephews, 1 great-niece, and numerous other family and friends. Herb will be missed but he will always be remembered with love by those who knew him, and we will see him again one day.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, from 6 until 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son funeral home, located in Salem.
Funeral services to honor his life will be conducted on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Pastors Michael Sheppard and Chris Brammer will officiate. Interment will follow at East Hill Cemetery, also in Salem where military rights will be conducted.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating, in Herbs honor, to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or the DAV of Roanoke.
