Bruce Edward Luepke

- August 6, 2023

Bruce Edward Luepke, 70, passed away peacefully at his home of 18 years in Appomattox, Virginia on Sunday, August 6, 2023.
Born on June 1, 1953, in Neptune, New Jersey, he was the cherished son of the late Cecelia and Benno Everett Luepke Jr. of Wall Township, New Jersey. Bruce retired from his career with Lambda-Electronic Measurement, Inc.
Left to honor his memory is his loving wife, Cheryl Ann Luepke. He was a proud father to Bruce Robert Luepke of Utah and Graham Trevor Luepke of New Jersey. Graham's children, Farrah, Helaina, Sadie, Graham, and Gavin will remember their grandfather with fondness. Additionally, he is remembered by Stephen Enders of Appomattox and Alyssa Enders of Illinois, alongside her daughter, Caitlin.
Bruce's legacy is further celebrated by his sister, Susan L Kenlon of Rockaway, New Jersey, and a host of nieces and nephews including Jennivere Kenlon, Justin Sean Kenlon and his children Sasha and Wesley, Jason Olesen, Bryan Olsen, Stephen Olsen, and Kimberly Poole.
He joins in rest his two brothers, Ben Everett, and Frederick Conrad Luepke. Bruce was also predeceased by Cynthia, the beloved mother of Bruce and Graham.
Bruce was raised in Wall Township, New Jersey, where he spent his childhood developing a love for collecting coins, music, the New York Yankees, and the Giants. Bruce’s sharp eye led to discoveries of rare large cents that were shared with the American Numismatics Society, of which he was a longtime member. He was always sure to supply his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren with coin sets from the years of their births. His love of music was voracious and eclectic. He played saxophone, guitar, and harmonica, and worked at musical venues like the Upstage, the Sunshine IN, and the Stone Pony in Asbury Park during his youth and helped contribute to a burgeoning and exciting musical scene there. No matter what situation was at hand, Bruce could find the perfect lyrics to quote for the occasion. As a young child, Bruce received surgery to help correct issues he suffered due to Charcot-Marie-Tooth that left him unable to play baseball. After his mother Ceceila wrote to Mickey Mantle on his behalf, Bruce received a signed photograph of Mickey and a personally written letter, which assured his status as a committed Yankees fan. His family will forever hold dear their memories of attending Yankees games and Springsteen concerts with him.
Bruce was host to an especially clever wit and warm heart, and he had a deep and abiding belief that there was fundamental goodness in all people. Everywhere he went he made fast friends with those he met.
Bruce moved to Appomattox, Virginia in 2005 and fell in love with Appomattox and neighboring Lynchburg. There he met his wife Cheryl, and together they built a rich life and maintained a loving home where the family regularly visited. He was a regular on the Appomattox Historical Trail, registering 2,000,000 steps in 2022.
The memory of Bruce Edward Luepke will be held in the hearts of his family, his lifelong friends, and all of the people whose hearts he touched in his walk-through life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Bruce’s name be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm, Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Robinson Funeral Home.
