Virginia Lee Hall Sweeney, 67, of Charlotte Court House, died Thursday, December 28, 2023, at her residence.

Born in Prince Georges County, MD, August 16, 1956, she was a daughter of the late Audrey Phelps Hall and Calvin Hall, Sr.  Virginia was a member of Salem Baptist Church.  She was a very kind, strong and independent person.  Virginia believed in working hard, but also making time for family and friends.  She started working at a Tastee-Freez in Maryland as a teenager and waitressed most of her life.  Virginia loved animals but especially horses, ponies, and donkeys.  She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, spending time with family, going to auctions, flea markets and was a very talented artist.    

Virginia was a proud grandmother and a dear mother to her sons.  They had many good times together that they will always treasure.

She is survived by her sons, Lawrence “Vincent” McDonough, Jr of Charlotte County and Jonathan Z. Davis, Jr., and wife, Lauren of Concord; one granddaughter, Ashley Davis; one brother, Calvin Hall, Jr., and wife, Peggy; three sisters, Calvina “Fay” Pugh and husband, Travis, Betty Walker and husband, Larry and Lorraine “Rainey” Mansius; and nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Robinson Funeral Home with Pastor Donnie Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Robinson Funeral Home.
