Tasha S. Avery Hairston
Tasha S. Avery Hairston of Martinsville, VA., was 56 years old; born at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, CT. on July 31st, 1966, the daughter of Sidney Avery and the late Delores P. Avery of Trumbull, CT. She graduated from Trumbull High School in Trumbull, CT.
Because she loved to cook, Tasha went to culinary school following her dream and becoming a successful chef at a popular restaurant called Lidel’s in Stratford, CT. She also loved children and became a bus driver. She was also a member of Our Lady Good Counsel. When Tasha was a young girl, she and her mother would spend time together antiquing, and she and her father would go fishing together. Tasha loved the outdoors; enjoying the beach, the mountains, and sightseeing. She was always an adventurous person. She also loved to read. Tasha was patient and was the essence of kindness, no one has ever recalled having an argument with her. It was her sweet spirit and smile that would warm people's hearts. She was a loving and dedicated friend.
Tasha had a big heart and a giving nature, and when her only son Isiah was born, she poured all her love into him. They were inseparable, and Isaiah says even though she is no longer here, he will love her until the end of time. Tasha departed on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at her home after yielding to complications from breast cancer, her husband was at her side. Tasha was a dedicated wife and mother and she will be dearly missed.
Tasha is survived by her only son, Isaiah, and loving husband Curtis Garret Hairston Jr. of Martinsville, VA., her sisters; Cynthia Williams (Webster), Crystal Avery (Wayne Winston), Tracy Livingston (Kevin), all of CT, and Janice McBride (Donald), and brothers; Tyrone G. Avery, Erik Avery, of HI, and Sidney Leroy Melvin (Delphine), of N.C. Tasha was preceded in death by her brother Kelly Avery. Tasha leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews including Jermaine Avery, Danielle Livingston, Ashley Winston, Brandon Williams, Dorian Williams, Webster Williams Jr., Makayla Harper, Lilly Rose Williams, and Luna Rose Williams. The family is devastated by the loss of their beloved and asks for your continued prayers for comfort and strength during this time of grief. Donations in support of Isaiah are welcomed and can be offered to his father, Curtis G. Hairston, Jr. For immediate family, a private viewing will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022.
Funeral services are being held for Tasha on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 4:00 pm at Wright Funeral Service Chapel, 1425 Greensboro Road Martinsville, VA 24112. Ministers Frank and Sabrina Taturn will officiate.
