Daniel Adrian Cash
Daniel Adrian “Danny” Cash, 74, of Appomattox passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024.
Born on December 9, 1949, in Lynchburg, Va., he was the son of the late Adrian Rudolph Cash and Dorothy Jennings Cash.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Brenda Sue Knight Cash. He is also survived by two children, Melissa Walker and husband, Billy of Lynchburg, and Shane Cash, and wife, Julie of Appomattox; one grandson, Logan Russell Cash; step granddaughter, Kelly Hughes; one brother, Henry Rudolph “Rudy” Cash and wife, Rose of Gladys; one sister, Nancy Ellen Haley of Springfield, Ohio; brother-in-law, Kelly Knight, Jr. and wife, Bonnie of Lynchburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Danny was a fifth-generation cattle farmer. He followed in his father’s footsteps early on with a love of agriculture, animals, and family. In the late 1970’s he moved to Appomattox to grow his legacy of raising Angus beef cattle and acquiring farmland. Side by side with his son, Shane, they have worked the land and tended to livestock making Cash Farms one of the largest beef farms in Appomattox. One of his greatest joys was attending Lynchburg livestock market every Monday. You could always find him “in his seat” first chair on the first row.
He was proud of the fact that his grandson, Logan, future seventh generation farmer joined him this summer to buy and sell cattle.
Danny was a natural born storyteller that never met a stranger. His family and friends would gather for hours listening to him recant details of his childhood about hanging out with his friends in Monroe and different family traditions.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Thomas Adrian Cash; his in-laws, Kelly Knight, Sr., and Zadia Knight; and brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” Haley.
A graveside service will be held at 2 pm, Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery, Amherst, Va with Pastor Bud Reid officiating.
