William O'Brien

William Clem “Sonny” O’Brien, 78, of Appomattox, died Thursday, February 15, 2024.
Born in Appomattox, October 2, 1945, he was a son of the late Rachel Page O’Brien and Clem Hancock O’Brien. Clem served his country in the National Guard from 1968-1974. He retired after 46 years of service from Central Virginia Electric Cooperative. In 1977, Clem started O’Brien Taxidermy and operated it until his health declined. He was a member of Black Rock Hunt Club and was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper.
He is survived by two sons, John William O’Brien and Richard Edward O’Brien; his daughter and loving caregiver, Suzanne O’Brien Guill and husband, David; an “adopted” son, Brian Prue and his family; one brother, Calvin O’Brien and wife, Sue; one sister, Clair Ferguson and husband, Mark; one grandson, William Cole O’Brien; one great-granddaughter, Holly Guill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Carolyn Moore O’Brien; and brother, Kenneth O’Brien.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, February 19, 2024, at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Robert E. Phillips, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in the O’Brien Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m., Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Robinson Funeral Home.
