Jack Hunter Williams, Sr.
Jack Hunter Williams, Sr., 95, of Appomattox, died Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Cornelia Murrell Millner Williams, who was the love of his life.
Born in Pamplin, June 22, 1928, he was a son of the late Bettie Nannie Ferguson Williams and Dannie Berle Williams. Jack served his country in the United States Army from 1950-1952. He was a charter member of the Appomattox Rescue Squad. Jack played in the Rocks Quartet from 1970-1980s and got to play with Ray Pillow and Roy Clark. He played semi-pro baseball with the Skyline League. The loves of his life were his family, music and sports.
He is survived by his two children, Dianne Braford and husband, Jimmy and Jack Williams, Jr., and wife, Terry; one sister, Shelby Bryant Ponton; six grandchildren, Amy Peterson, Whitney Braford, Jessica O’Brien, Wyatt Williams, Aaron Turner and Cole Williams; 10 great-grandchildren, Tyler Peterson, Josh Peterson, Braxton Peterson, Caden Braford, Gabrian Palacios, Ace O’Brien, Madison O’Brien, Denali Williams, Kayson Williams and Evinleigh Williams.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charlie O. Williams, Dillard B. Williams and James R. Williams; four sisters, Edythe L. Peters, Marguerite M. Bryant, Una M. Garrett and Virginia O. Meadows.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. John Moxley officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Robinson Funeral Home.
