James Pretlow Paulette, Sr.
James Pretlow Paulette, Sr., 95, of Appomattox, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Opal Adair Johnson Paulette.
Born on August 13, 1928, in Appomattox, VA, he was the son of the late Robert Jefferson Paulette, Sr. and Annie Christian Wheeler Paulette. James worked for Lawson Ford as a service manager, retiring after 40 years. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church, the pianist for the Rocks Quartet, a charter member for Falling River Country Club, and a pitcher in the Patrick Henry baseball league. James served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was an avid golfer with numerous club championships.
He is survived by five children, Hope Paulette Bondurant and husband, Joseph, Donna Marie Paulette, James P. Paulette, Jr. and wife, Melinda, Robin Adair Paulette, and Jeffery Owen Paulette and wife, Kathy; 10 grandchildren, Bryan J. Ferguson, Jean A. Bowman, James P. Paulette III, James E. Terry, Chris E. Pannell, Eric R. Paulette, Annie C. Payne, Travis C. Bondurant, Troy E. Paulette, and Elon J. Paulette; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Jack, Bruce, Dwight, Ashby, Adrian, Burke, and Temple Paulette and four sisters, Virginia Krouse, Kathleen Lawler, Christine Moseley, and Gwendolyn Franklin.
A memorial service will be held 2 pm, Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Evergreen Baptist Church with Dr. Chris King and Rev. Robert Wilson officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
