Wesley Grayson Hamlett

June 8, 1933 - May 23, 2024

Wesley Grayson Hamlett, 90, of Pamplin, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Arlean Barbour Hamlett for 36 years. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather to be.
Born on June 8, 1933, in Virginia, he was the son of the late Laura Vasser Hamlett and Aubrey E. Hamlett. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy for four years and was a member of Oak View Presbyterian Church. Wesley was employed by Burlington Mills for 17 years and retired from BWXT after 25 years. He was a lifelong farmer.
Wesley is survived by his daughter, Pat Smith and husband, John Odell of Lynchburg; daughter-in-law, Margaret Davis of Pamplin; four grandchildren, Shannon Martin and husband, Kenneth, Jamie C. Davis and wife, Heather, Daniel A. Davis and wife, Amy, and Matthew J. Smith; six great-grandchildren, Kurt Grayson Martin and wife, Taylor, Katy Martin, Maddox Davis, Colbie Davis, Camden Davis and Macy Davis; brother, Ronnie V. Hamlett; and special friend, Marie Powell.
He was preceded in death by his son, James R. “Jimmy” Davis, as well as his brother, Aubrey Hamlett, Jr. and sister, Barbara H. Dunnavant.
A funeral service will be held 11 am, Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Piney Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Tyree and Rev. Eric Hernandez officiating. Burial will follow in Pamplin Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Robinson Funeral Home.
