Fred Madison Caldwell
Fred Madison Caldwell, 85, of Appomattox passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born on May 25, 1939, in Appomattox County, he was the son of the late Hubert Hunter Caldwell, Sr. and Sara Howerton Caldwell. Fred served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the Marine Corps Color Guard. He was self-employed for many years and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a longtime member of Appomattox Moose Lodge and was quite talented at whittling.
He is survived by his son, Madison Scott Caldwell; two grandchildren, Devon Caldwell and fiancée, MacKenzie Masten, and Madison Caldwell and fiancé, Andrew McIlvain; a sister, Edith C. Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris C. Martin, and three brothers, H.H. “Red” Caldwell, Jr., Marvin A. Caldwell, Sr., and Edward L. Caldwell.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Robinson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
A celebration of life reception will be held 5-7 pm, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 788 Cedar Tree Rd, Appomattox, VA 24522.
