William Donald Neiswander

William Donald Neiswander, 81, of Appomattox passed away Monday, September 2, 2024, at his residence. He was the husband of Kathleen “Kathy” M. Neiswander.
Born on June 14, 1943, in Lima, Ohio, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Neiswander and Blanche Thomas. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Bill enjoyed golfing and coaching his children’s youth sports teams. After moving to Virgnia, he found a love of fishing and floating the river in his canoe. After he retired from International Paper, Bill wanted nothing more than to spend time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Holly K. Harris and husband, David, and Brian D. Neiswander; three grandchildren, Carter Neiswander, Evan Neiswander, and Richter Harris; two siblings, Robert Lee Neiswander and wife, Geraldine, and Anne N. Merkey and husband, James; in-laws, Darlene S. O’Connor, Phillip J. O’Connor and JoEllen, and Donald T. O’Connor and Rebecca; and numerous nieces and nephews .
A memorial service will be held at 11 am, September 28, 2024, at St, Theresa Catholic Church, 700 Buffalo Street, Farmville, with Father Chris Hess officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
