Ruth Guill Smith

Ruth Guill Smith, 94, of Appomattox, died Thursday, September 12, 2024, in Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born in Appomattox County, on April 25, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Myrtle McCormick and Willie Herman Guill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Collidge Smith; by her son, Dr. Larry F. Smith; six sisters, Gertie Jamerson, Elsie Thomas, Myrna Nash, Carrie Gobble, Rachel Waddell, and Polly Seay; and four brothers, Elmo Guill, Warner Guill, Randolph Guill, and Robert Guill.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Later in life Ruth enjoyed capturing country scenes of Appomattox County in her oil paintings.
The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the Summitt Assisted Living staff for the wonderful care of “Miss Ruth”.
There will be a register available at Robinson Funeral Home for friends to stop by and pay their respects on Monday, September 16 and Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A private family burial will be held in Liberty Cemetery.
