Yvonne Allen

Yvonne Marie Bartley Allen, 82, was called home by our Heavenly Father on January 13, 2025. Yvonne was born on August 8, 1942, and grew up in Montebello, VA., lived in various places throughout the southeastern United States, Okinawa (Japan), to then settle in Spout Spring, VA in 1978.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Eldridge William Allen, Sr.; grandsons, Ryan O’Neil Carter and William Hunter Allen; a great granddaughter, Jordyn Josephine Allen; parents, Dallas Patrick and Nannie Jane Cash Bartley; a brother, Samuel Lee Bartley and a sister, Thelma Mae Bartley Sensabaugh.
In addition to the profound love she had for her family, Yvonne loved experimenting in the kitchen, working in her garden, singing gospel hymns, tending to her backyard barnyard animals, researching her family genealogy, family reunions, taking adventures around the world, making sure no one ever went hungry and giving the gift of love and a home to anyone in need. She was a delightful, strong and caring person that had gifts for listening, sharing encouraging words, and extended arms for hugging. Yvonne retired after 30 years of devoted service from Central Virginia Community College. She was a lifelong member of Haines Chapel in Montebello and Spout Spring Baptist Church.
Yvonne was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by a special friend that loves her dearly and whom she and her entire family love dearly, Ronnie Gough; a devoted daughter and best friend, Jennifer Marie Allen, who shares her love for family and mountain views; three sons that she deeply loved, Eldridge William Allen, Jr. (Janet) who took her on many adventures to discover family history; Dale Patrick Allen, Sr. (Kay) whose singing always brought the joyful sound of music to her ears; Gregory Scott Allen, Sr., who always put a smile on her face and kept her laughing. Eight grandchildren, Tony Allen (Lindsay), Lee Allen (Amber), D.P. Allen (Tina), Colby Booth (DeMario), Scottie Allen (Jane), Zachary McIntire (April), Warren Lamberth, and Jasmyne Allen, who she helped raise and who was there by her side until her heart went still. Fourteen great-grandchildren, Kyra, Alexys, Faythe, Jolyne, Carter, Xavier, Jamison, Amelia, Dayshia, Dayvien, Iyanha, Amora, Emma and Silas; three sisters, Helen (Wayne) Mason, Elaine Lunsford, and Bonnie Bartley; and a multitude of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends that she loved dearly.
Yvonne will always be deeply loved and missed but will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and all those whose lives she touched.
Funeral Services for Yvonne will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Spout Spring Baptist Church in Spout Spring, VA. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 AM.
