Alan King
Alan Dean King, 76, of Pamplin, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at his home. He was the husband of the late Linda “Susie” Meadows King.
Born in Rochester, NY, on November 14, 1948, he was the son of the late Betty Milliken and Richard Decker and his adopted parents, the late Floyd and Gertrude King. Alan was a member at Piney Ridge United Memorial Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a life member of the Pamplin Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years. Alan retired from BWXT.
He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer L. King; two half-sisters, Leslie Decker-Strong and Loren Decker-Garlock; three half-brothers, Richard Decker, Robert Decker, and Robin Decker; a brother-in-law, Bob Fredericks; and nieces and nephews, Michelle Archibald, Janet Tuck, Johnny Edwards, Brian Fredericks, Christopher Fredericks, Roger Guill, Robert Lewis, Ben Lewis, Kim Burke, and Jim Lewis.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three half-brothers, Randy Decker Alan Decker, and Douglas Archibald; and an adopted sister, Carol Fredericks.
A funeral will be held at 11am, Monday, March 3, 2025, at Piney Ridge United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Eric Hernandez and Pastor David Drinkard. Burial will follow at Piney Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the Church.
