Andrew Wilson Garrett, Jr.
Andrew Wilson Garrett, Jr., 83, died Friday, March 28, 2025. He was the husband of his one true love, Constance Arlene “Connie” Ewers Garrett.
Born in Amherst County, VA, on March 17, 1942, he was a son of the late Andrew “Tim” Wilson Garrett, Sr. and Florine Tomlin Garrett. He graduated in 1959 from EC Glass High School and proudly served as a member of the U.S. Army for six years earning the rank of Sergeant. Wilson was employed by Western Electric “AT&T” as a telephone installer for 32 years. He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church and a former member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. He enjoyed rebuilding cars, fishing in local ponds and on the beach at Nags Head and loved playing cards with his friends. Over his lifetime Wilson lived in Amherst, Fort Hood, Texas, Concord, Appomattox and Goode.
He is survived by his son, Dale Garrett; daughter-in-law, Alison Babcock Garrett; his daughter, JoEllen Martin and her husband, Darryl; five grandchildren, Caelan Garrett and wife, Molly, Camron Garrett and fiancée, Sarah Niemi, Brennan Garrett and his partner, Maddie Daugherty, Katherine Martin, and Andrew Martin and wife, Arianna; one great granddaughter, Elise Martin of whom he was extremely proud of; nephew, “Gary Wayne” Ewers his wife, Dianne, and their daughter, Stephanie E. Summers and her husband, Joseph; sister-in-law, Phyllis Ewers; a niece, Theresa Ewers Floyd and her husband, Tony; close friend, Sandy Costa; and a half-cousin, Donna Gutierrez.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracey Garrett and a brother, Raymond Lee Garrett.
A graveside funeral service will be held 3:00 pm, Monday, March 31, 2025, in Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery officiated by Rev. James Smith.
