Diane Marie Miller

November 14, 1940 - March 31, 2025

Diane Marie Rowehl Miller, 84, of Appomattox, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was married to Carlton Lee Miller for 61 years
Born on Long Island, NY, on November 14, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Christina Moelius Rowehl and Bernard W. Rowehl Sr.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Donna Miller, and Chris Miller and wife Beth; 2 grandchildren, Dennis Miller and Stephanie Miller; and 2 great-grandchildren, Ronald and Serenity Marie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard William “Bernie” Rowehl Jr.
In 1963 she married into a ready-made Military family, moved from Dover to Topeka, Kansas, and then was transferred to Japan for three years, all in a space of 6 months. While in Japan she worked for Pacific Stars and Stripes, a military newspaper.
Upon returning to Delaware in 1966, she opened Miller’s Bookkeeping and Tax Service. In 1972 the family moved to Springfield, Virginia and she worked for Potomac Research in Washington, DC.
In 1975, she and Carl moved to Appomattox and opened White's Auto Store in the Triangle Plaza. Diane was behind the scenes keeping the books and paying the bills. She also worked for Thomasville, Courtland Manufacturing, and retired from First Colony Life (GE Financial) 1998.
She co-founded AWAG, Animal Welfare Action Group with Magda Liska and was instrumental in getting the low-cost Spay/Neuter Clinic in Evington. She and Carl were foster parents with numerous puppies and dogs, finding homes for the animals.
Diane was a member of Appomattox Court House Presbyterian Church.
The family welcomes friends to visit with them from 4 to 6pm on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Robinson Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 11am on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Liberty Cemetery.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Appomattox Court House Presbyterian Church, officiated by Reverend Carlos Malave.
